My husband and I just recently purchased a king-size bed last week and while I recognize this is a controversial issue, let me assure you that our marriage is not in trouble. I mean, I like to cuddle as much as the next girl, but let's not go crazy, right?
We purchased a Spirit Sleep Mattress, a cheaper and more environmentally friendly step-child to the Tempur-Pedic. It is a memory foam mattress and is filled with charcoal and green tea and comes in a smaller box than the Tempur-Pedic. But seriously, who has a mattress filled with green tea and charcoal. I must admit the idea of sleeping on such earthy ingredients sold me. The fact that it was half the price of the Tempur-Pedic was a nice bonus!
I'm not going to lie, the first few nights on the Spirit Sleep were . . . well . . .spiritual, but the last few have left me wondering if they packed our mattress with rocks or just pure hate instead of green tea and charcoal. The guy in the store told us that it can take up to 20 days to re-adjust to the new bed. He did not mention the fact that my back would straight-up reject the mattress like a kidney transplant gone bad.
So yesterday and today I have taken morning and afternoon naps on the couch to make up for the lost sleep from our eco-lovin' memory foam and wonder how long I can keep up this napathon I have been on.
Perhaps there are real reasons people are so vehementally against King-sized beds. Or the environment. Maybe an expensive environmentally hating mattress is exactly what the doctor ordered. I will keep you posted on our new green mattress, the frequency of my naptime, and any chiropractor bills that may come as a result of this earth muffin and her new bed.
